Ephemeral sculpture EG Rail Trail
& installation at EGAG
Trail & exhibition open 4 May
slow e motion is an ephemeral environmental exhibition inspired by the distinctive qualities of a chosen location. It celebrates the basic materials found on site and will challenge visitors to see new insights and viewpoints by offering a different visual presentation.
slow e motion features two parts: a distinctive in situ series of ephemeral sculptures along the East Gippsland Rail Trail at three selected sites and a gallery-based installation encapsulating each location’s character through found objects, rubbings, drawings etc in the West Gallery, EGAG.
Images documenting the progress of slow e motion will be on display in the East Gallery.
The ephemeral sculptures and gallery installation will be a collaborative process between 3 artists from each location. To create the sculptures artists will be required to use whatever materials may be found on site (without damaging vegetation).
slow e motion is being delivered in association with the EG Rail Trail committee. Details and maps describing the EG Rail Trail may be accessed on www.eastgippslandrailtrail.com.
EGAG’s contribution to Creative Gippsland’s month of May activities and is supported by East Gippsland Shire Council Arts and Heritage Alliance Grant.
