John Mutsaers has a long professional artistic career spanning 40 years. This is his 40th solo exhibition and to celebrate, the Gallery is showing a selection of 40 works, mostly paintings, landscapes and portraits, hand-picked from John’s studio in Inverloch by Art Gallery Director, Crystal Stubbs. John started painting as a child in Nederland, but it wasn't until 1983 that he began his career working in a converted milking shed on a small farm outside Moe in Victoria.

Although painting is John’s major discipline, his first international success was the sale of a copper and iron sculpture based on CJ Dennis’ poem, “The Sentimental Bloke”. His six 2.5 ton stone and steel sculptures, “Forks in Spuds,” is now permanently placed beside the Princess Highway near the Spud Shed in Trafalgar. John Mutsaers’s work is represented in public, corporate, and private collections around the world.
