Elisabeth Scott | Let Me keep
01 May - 06 June 2026
Special opening event 5.30pm Friday 01 May 2026
All welcome. Free
The exhibition is inspired by the Mary Oliver poem ‘Mysteries, Yes’. It speaks of; ‘How rivers and stones are forever in allegiance with gravity’.
It seeks to draw attention to the marvel of the natural world. Let me keep company always with those who say “Look!” and laugh in astonishment, and bow their heads.’ Mary Oliver documented her response with words and has inspired me to document my experiences with the making of marks.
I am interested in how we move within the landscape and the effect it has on us. I think we all have an internal beat and that is where mine is the strongest. The further in I am, the longer I stay, the louder it gets.
I create my images using a combination of drawing and printmaking techniques with the intention of trying to capture how I feel in this time so that I can revisit it. I am not a natural exhibitor. I have hoarded my work, using the energy from one to begin the next. Like a smoker, lighting one cigarette from the last. The exhibition title is an acknowledgement of that.
