“During our last devastating fires many birds left the bush and escaped into town. By the Mitchell River, in a large gum tree, a multitude of frenzied birds sheltered over two to three days. The noise was cacophonous as they all screamed their angst. However, none of the birds tried to eject any others. All these species took sanctuary in that tree and accepted the others even though they were all different. As people of the world maybe we should take a lesson from these birds in The Sanctuary

Rhonda’s works are a combination of realism and contemporary fantasy. Her practice is grounded in lived experience; she considers it essential to spend time with and understand her subject before translating it into paint. This is where her artistic process begins.

Gunaikurnai artist and Elder; Dr Aunty Eileen Harrison bears a deep spiritual connection to Country. Dr Aunty bases her work on the cultural and ceremonial stories of the Gunaikurnai people of Gippsland

Warriors is a heartfelt piece that captures the powerful bond between a father and son fishing together on Country. More than just a quiet moment by the water, this artwork symbolises the passing down of knowledge, strength, and purpose. It speaks to raising the next generation to become warriors - not just in a physical sense, but in character and determination to pursue their goals.
