Tammi Mckenzie | Book of Fishes
31 July - 05 September 2026
Special opening event 5.30pm Friday 31 July 2026

All welcome. Free

Tammi McKenzie is a local printmaker from the coastal village of Lake Tyers Beach, the landscape and fauna of which informs much of her work. Her current subject is local fish, inspired by both the zoological studies of the 18th century and the beauty and simplicity of Japanese fish prints.

She has developed a process that involves building up a matrix with a vinyl polymer medium, which is then inked and hand printed, without a press, a process that is lighly variable and ensures that each piece is unique. Prints are made until the matrix is destroyed, usually after a dozen or so, resulting in very limited print runs.

Her works are both bold and elegant, rooted in tradition and place whilst simultaneously stripping the utility of her influences to create purely aesthetic, completely modern pieces.
